Your Arrival day and First day at IS Latin America

Below is a "general outline of what to expect" during the arrival date and during the first day of classes:

Where should I go upon arrival?

If you have booked an accommodation with us, then you will receive instructions for your arrival day along with your confirmation. You will also receive the emergency phone number in case there is any problem upon your arrival. If you are taking only a course with us then you should go directly to the school on Monday at 8:00AM for the level test. Each city also has its own emergency number that will be given to the student before arrival.

Saturday or Sunday

(Travel and Arrival day, you also can arrive in a different day): Students usually arrive on the Saturday or Sunday before the course starts on the Monday morning. But you also can arrive in a different day. Students either make their own way to the accommodation using local public transport or taxi or reserve for an airport pick up and be met at the airport and transported by a school representative. Once the student has arrived at their accommodation, they can use the remainder of the day to relax and unpack, recover from jet lag, become acquainted with their new host family or roommates and settle into their new surroundings.

Your First Monday

(The first Monday of the Program): On Monday morning, students make their own way to our school, maps and directions will be provided. Expect to arrive at 08.00am on the first Monday.

- We will test your Spanish grammar, reading, speaking and listening at 8.00am on your first day.

- We will show you around the school and tell you what to do in an emergency.

- We will introduce you to key members of staff and the private study areas.

- We will tell you about the social activities for your first week, and ask you to sign up for anything you would like to do.

- Our school director and teachers will introduce themselves and ask the student to take a language test. This 'placement test' is designed to help students form appropriate groups in which each student will flourish and develop their Spanish language skills. The placement test should last approximately 10 - 20 minutes and will test their current ability in the language being studied. This test is designed to help the teachers assess the student's language ability, so they are placed in the correct class in order to make the maximum progress.

- After testing, we will put you in a class at your level to start on the first day. We have levels from beginner to advanced.

- We will give you a course book to use in your lessons, which you can keep. You will be ready to start and enjoy the classes!!
